And the stamped slides use a roll pin to hold . Precision cutting tools and clamping systems offer a high degree of technical sophistication. There are important characteristics they must possess, which provide the basis for safe, smooth and efficient operation of a CNC machine.

I believe the stamped slides had internal extractors. Besides, I think they stopped using the stamped slides on the P226 long ago. And the stamped slides use a roll pin to hold . a stamped slide is machined from basically a flat peice of sheet steel, then folded into the desired shape. The internals are then pinned in with roll pins. . IMHO, the difference .
I just saw Helderberg's question about a stamped P220 slide and found myself questioning how to determine whether a slide is stamped or rolled? I didn't want to hijack his . Are the stamped slides as good, not as good, better, than the CNC slides? This is an area I have zero knowledge of and could really use some input from the resident experts. . Nov 2, 2010. Oct 7, 2019. The slide on my 1988 P226 fits the frame rails extremely well. In contrast, my 220 Legion has a much more loose fit and other new P models have been slightly loose . At first glance the slide seems like a straightforward hog-out with some roll-stamping. Yet given the quantity they produce (2M or more/year), that's a lot of machine time . Slides for Glocks start life as a piece of steel stock approximately 34 ft. in length. The slides are machined on computer numberically controlled (CNC) equipment. The slides .Got my hands on their new Gen 5 I.B.S slide. Fit and finish is great, and the TiN coating is definitely way tougher than I was expecting. Haven’t had a chance to take it to the range yet, will update when that happens. The P225 and P228 have never been offered with other than stamped-steel carbon slides with pinned breech blocks. The P229 has never been offered with other than a milled stainless slide; it was, of course, designed for the higher-pressure .40Auto cartridge and has since been chambered in .357SIG [what a great round!].Definitely a stamped slide, that’s the only way they were made back then. Beautiful piece you acquired, far nicer than the guns being made here in the states today. My West German P226 is one of my favorites. You have a true .

CNC Steel slides are often the the most expensive but they will not function in a real gun at all, and a real steel slide will not fit on an airsoft Glock. In fact, most airsoft Glocks are not 1:1 with real glocks. TM, WE, KJW, and Elite Force (VFC) Glocks do not even fit in Glock holsters. Only KSC/KWA makes a Glock that is 1:1.Stamped hands can go through further processing stages to give them ‘3Dness’ if you design in enough material. CNC is certainly possible, but it becomes more of an exercise in fixturing if you want to obtain an elegant refined look.

Four slide/Multi-slide work in right angles or horizontally. The slides/rams strike the sheet material to produce the final product. Four slide stamping has four slides but multi-slide can have more than 4. Produces 31% less scrap than progressive die stamping. Fast production of small parts with tight tolerances. Longer setup time
Hi Steve. I worked on a few 1911s Built many scope mounts for them. The barrel defiantly is at an angle. If putting a scope mount on the slide and it's parallel the scope will run out of "elevation" adjustment (actually it will be too high and can't be lowered enough) I attached a photo of a 1911 I built for my son, Caspian Frame and slide with a Kart barrel re-chambered .
In many ways sure: 25hp vs 50, drum brakes vs disc, no seatbelts vs automatic seatbelts, no ac vs ac, etc). But the '38 was still a great car in its day and driving one in 1939 was certainly better than waiting 65 years for the ultimate edition.

The one brand I will warn people to stay far away from is anything made/sold by Rock Slide USA and their eBay seller by the name of ammogas. Owning both milled slides and MOS slides, I prefer milled slides since the optic is lower/closer to the bore axis. The most popular optic footprint for aftermarket slides is the Trijicon RMR footprint.

I've got a CNC mill and we've been playing around with machining slides. In the past with our "toy" CNC. We just used cutting oil on the slide. Using carbide tooling, this provided a good finish. Last night I tried cutting a slide on actual real CNC. The results weren't that great. I had the feed rate cranked all the way down. Using 1/8 carbide . Looking at slides for a Glock 20L (10mm) pistol build. As far as handguns go, this is a pretty high-power application. The main manufacturers of these slides use either 416 (SUS416 or 416R) or 17-4 stainless. Those who use 17-4 say that 416 is inadequate, but don't really say why. Should I.
After the metal has been stamped and formed, it is ejected out of the press to move on to the next stage. Four-slide / Multi-slide stamping offers many advantages over traditional progressive die stamping, including: • Creates complex parts Four-slide stamping can produce complex bends or multi-part bends up to 90 degrees.
The rattly slide is just the opposite of what I experienced on the early stamped slide 220, 226 and 228 SIGs. The loosest stamped slide gun I owned had a very minimal amount of slide/frame play when in battery. Definitely not rattly. I did sometimes encounter rattly SIGs in SIG armorers classes I attended. The slide finish does look like K-Cote. First, if the goal is to make a heavier slide, it is cheaper to machine a slide of the desired mass because the stamped slide has an even thickness that doesn't allow increased weight. Second, the Sig 220 dates back to the mid-'70s, before CNC was common or inexpensive. The gun you are referring to actually have not folded but "stamped" carbon steel slides and were 100% made in Germany. They are considered to be "true SiG's" by purists like me. This is the same manufacturing technology the Germans used in production of the MP 40, MG 42, MP 44 in WW2 and beyond with the HK series of assault rifles/semi auto .

The accuracy order was the 220 (stamped slide), then 226 SS solid slide, then really the 225 was good, but not as accurate as the others. Fit on all were great. The finish, Nitron on the 226 looked and held up the best, the 225 was some kind of oxide blue and looked good. "S" stamped inside of slide Yes the "S" stamped inside of the slide means it's stainless steel. When the slides are machined and in the white it's impossible for the shop workers to distinguish between the stainless ones and the chrome moly ones. Kenbo . Save Share. Like. I recently purchased a 226 9mm made in Germany with stamped slide. I had the choice of that and a US 226 stamped slide and choose the older German one. The tolerances ARE MUCH smaller on the German one. I have enjoyed mine and I have had no problems. I know of NO differences between the two, other than the slides and the pins holding them in. The slide is machined while the plate is stamped, so I loctited the plate to the slide to fill in as many voids as possible. The thread engagement for the screws that hold the optic can only be so much as the plate is like 2mm thick. There are a few aftermarket plates that have better better engagement if needed.
